The Beard

A place in the shade
Yesterday when I spotted this gentleman the temperature was around 32ºC (90ºF) and I wondered if this glorious beard made him feel the heat. He told me he's had the beard for longer than he can remember and confirmed that yes, he does get asked to don a red suit in December!

Hi, great portrait. I just can't imagine the heat sporting a beard and a Santa red suit in the Australian weather during the summer.

ohh...

He's a local. «Louis» thought he might be an escapee from the People's Republic of Berserkeley....

32°C and Santa still sound strange to me, but the guy seems the right choice for the part. Nice portrait of a remarkable character!

I'll bet he can tell a lot of stories

Luis Gomes - Our summers can, and do, get pretty hot.

Louis la Vache - Methinks that some of the greatest have escaped from somewhere!

AB - It is a lovely beard, he must comb it daily - there were no knots.

Vogon Poet - It's a funny thing, but many Christmas cards and scenes on sale here all show snow and snowmen.

Joe Todd - I'm sure he can, I was chatting to a lady of similar age and she told me her story of the Black Saturday bushfires and how she and her husband fought all night to save their home.

My husband's beard was getting that long, but he trimmed it way back. I told him, "No more trimming until after Christmas!" It must be strange having Christmas when it's warm, but on the other hand, it was probably warm in the Holy land.

I like men in beard. ;) My husband has a big full one. We were kind of surprised it grew so well because his father and brother were never able to grow them. My husband does't think it makes a big difference in the summer, but he is sure glad for it in the winter.
