Melbourne Daily Photo

Hello, I created this blog because Melbourne is my city and I want people to see what a beautiful place it is. So come with me on a journey of discovery as we traverse the dining precincts, the culture, the laneways and hidden gems that make Melbourne marvellous.

Buildings and Rooftops

The spire is that of St. Paul's Cathedral, the mosaic like building is the ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image), and in the foreground is Artplay which sits in a red brick warehouse - the sole remaining building of the Melbourne rail yards.

Artplay is at Birrarung Marr on the banks of the Yarra River.

ACMI is one end of Federation Square, yes? St Pauls looks totally hemmed in here. That part of Melbourne is not very high-rise is it? Although the person striding along in the foreground is small ...

This photo is loaded! Lots of stuff - even a WESTIN hotel!

It's not a high-rise area , you're right there Julie. The CAthedral is on the corner of Swanston & Flinders Streets, Fed Square is opposite and the ACMI building is to the right. Artplay is quite a fair way even further to the right, more than a "block" away. Although it does look as if they are almost one on top of the other.

Leif - you must have good eyesight. I didn't notice that one.

Quite an interesting cross section of different buildings in that shot.

There's so much going on in this picture! What an awesome mix of styles, shapes, colors!

J Bar - There seem to be two dominant colours in the buildings - terracotta and greys.

Rob - Thanks, I didn't realise how 'busy' it was until after taking it.
