Skywatch Friday - Sunrise

I shall lift mine eyes to the heavens
The dark shadows of night slowly creep
Their lengthening lines do fade
The clouds ring out with colour
As the dawn brings on its hue

Through pinks and blues
And rays that shimmer
In the early morn
The crispness of the air
The song of birds to welcome the new dawn.

Today's Quote: Whether I retire to bed early or late, I rise with the sun -
Thomas Jefferson.

Tom would have good reason to rise with this sunrise.

Lovely!

We had an interesting sunrise today. A brief break in the clouds on the horizon, sun peaking through, AND a thick rainbow (or something, as those are usually facing the sun.) I tried getting a picture, but it came out kind of icky.

Hope you have a lovely weekend, we are snowed in. :D

Thank you for sharing these beautiful flowers and the sky watch photo too! I also enjoyed seeing your slide of the Daintree trip and your post about your boat trip. Was that to the Great Barrier Reef? I've done that twice. I 've often been in Cairns. I always fly to Cairns, because that's the nearest international airport for Cooktown, where my daughter lives. I have been 8 times in Australia and most of the time in Queensland. Thanks for your visit to far north Europe!

Beautiful blog. I look forward to coming back often. Thanks for stopping at mine.

Side note:(Couple does stay together. Considering that is the biggest fight they ever had in 17 years, I'd say they stand a good chance. :) Clementines are a type of mandarin oranges.)

Have a lovely day.

Love the picture and the quote. I live by that quote...not intentionally though.

Nicely done. Love blue sunrises! And your poetic commentary is the perfect accompaniment!

If every morning started like this then I can see why Thomas Jefferson would want to rise with the sun!

Lianne - We often have blue skies at sunrise.

Cezar and Léia - In the other direction, the sky's a different colour.

Brattcat - Mum always made us get up by 6.30. Old habits die hard.

Small City Scenes - I like watching the moon change size.

Leif - Don't always get reds ad golds. Have a good weekend where you are too.

√ Abraham Lincoln - Thanks, and thank you for the link for your old photos.

Three Rivers - I like Jefferson's quote.

B Squared - He was up with the birds.

Just Kim - Does your camera have a sunlight background shot?

Reader Will - Which boat trip? The Low Isles is part of the GBR, but it was the other trip with Quicksilver that went to the Outer Reef - Agincourt Reef.
Your daughter's lucky, I loved Cooktown and the sunsets were awesome. I liked visting your part of the world.

Yes, my camera does. I tried that setting and a couple others, but the rainbow turned out yellow. I think because of the position of the clouds the camera was not able to pick up enough light elsewhere. Or something...

Beautiful floriade blooms, your sky and your compelling poem. I do what Thomas Jefferson said.

Diane - I'm used to getting up early.

Daniel - Je ne parle pas le Français

Eden - I try to match the quote to the photo.

Just Kim - Although my camera has 'night' photo, I find they don't come out all that well. The ordinay setting looks better.

Bonnie Bonsai - Mum always said, "Eraly to bed, early to rsie, makes a man happy, healthy and wise.
