Amorous Apples

Did you know that in ancient Greece, the apple was considered to be sacred to Aphrodite and if you threw an apple at someone it meant you were declaring your love and likewise, if you caught it, it showed your acceptance of that love? Imagine it that were the case today, I wonder how many apples would be caught? No doubt there would be many a young swain hoping his lady love was good at ball games!

Today's quote: I throw the apple at you, and if you are willing to love me, take it and share your girlhood with me; but if your thoughts are what I pray they are not, even then take it, and consider how short-lived is beauty ~ Plato.

That's a very nice story... And an amusing way you pictured what it would mean if the method would be put in practice nowadays... :) In Brazil "maçã do amor" (could be very well translated as amorous apple) is appreciated in amusement parks and some traditional kermesses. It's served with a very sweet hard cover and warm. Children and young couples love it! :)
God bless you!

I'm learning all kinds of things on this blog today. I always thought an apple was an apple was an apple and should be eaten cold with a little salt.

Shows how much I know!

My goodness, BFG - you made so many wonderful comments on our blogs today! Thank you very much!

Lovely apples! And as they say, "An apple a day, keeps the doctor away!"
