Hello, I created this blog because Melbourne is my city and I want people to see what a beautiful place it is. So come with me on a journey of discovery as we traverse the dining precincts, the culture, the laneways and hidden gems that make Melbourne marvellous.

Remembrance Day 2010
On the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, in 1918, at the signing of the Armistice, the guns in Europe fell silent. And so, every year on the same day at the same time, we remember those who have fallen in all wars, and made the ultimate sacrifice.
These photos were taken today at the Remembrance Day Service at my local RSL.

The Ode
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years contemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.

As usual, a poignant post with a perfect quote.
A great posting of photos as we remember our veterans both living and resting in peace - around the world! Happy Veterans Day!
So many of the youth have no idea the sacrifices that were made.
A fitting tribute.

It's important not to forget the mistakes of the past so that they don't happen again...
God bless you!

In our country, such events go largely unnoticed except for a few old men (mostly) who put on uniforms and get together to listen to a few speeches.
Too bad, as it is so important to think again about war and its consequences and try to devise means of getting along without killing one another...
