When is a donkey not a donkey? When it's a tree! I spotted this Gum Tree last Sunday up in the Yarra Vally.
Give me a home among the gumtrees
With lots of plum trees
A sheep or two, a k-kangaroo
A clothesline out the back
Verandah out the front
And an old rocking chair

Today's Quote: Do you think yourself wise? Then there's a donkey inside your waistcoat - Charles H. Spurgeon.
Perhaps that's a leftover from a 'pin the tail on the donkey' game?
ReplyDeleteA great find for Scenic Sunday:)I love the beautiful sky as the backdrop of the Gum Tree with the donkey.
ReplyDeleteSo a donkey tree is a gum tree! Are those wild onions growing beneath it?
ReplyDeletePretty tree and scene. I didn't know what a gum tree looked like, I had only heard of it in the kukabarra song. If I spelled that right and you know what I am talking about. If not, don't mind me.
ReplyDeleteCute!
ReplyDeletefun poem and wonderful tree photo~
ReplyDeleteJust me again - Could be, I hadn't thought of that.
ReplyDeletenice A - We have hundreds of Gum trees, but thisis the first I've seen with a donkey.
Stine in Ontario - The flowers are Agapanthus - they also come in blue and mauve.
Teresa - Gum trees are Eucalyptus trees - which the Koala eats. And I know the song you mean, it's qutie fun.☺
Evelyn - It was on a property which has free range eggs.
Tammie Lee - The words are from a song ( Home Among The Gum Trees), which has nine verses!
Cheers.
That's great. Made me laugh.

Nice one. The donkey is the symbol for Barcelona: hard working
ReplyDeleteIt's a gorgeous photo, but I wonder who put the donkey there and why.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful scene, for sure. But one can't help wondering where the donkey came from and what its purpose was...
ReplyDeleteOh that's funny. Maybe someone became enlightened, took the donkey out of his waistcoat and left it in the tree?
ReplyDelete:-)
Great post ... your rhyme and the blue skies in your photo both put a smile on my face today. :)
