Is it a bird? Is it a plane? It's - not Superman!
This very tall "pole" stands outside T4 which is the terminal for Tiger Airways, one of our budget airlines which has been operating since March 2007. T4 was the former terminal for Virgin Blue (another of our budget airlines) when they first came into operation back in 2000.
It's a different tower!A little bit fancy! LOL
ReplyDeleteAnd wow what a beautiful blue sky, it's a perfect contrast with the orange tiger tower! :)

Oh... And I thought it was some secret symbol of Melbourne's secret nickname, as in Big Apple...
ReplyDeleteI noticed the colourful paint job on this water tower at the airport when I was down in Melbourne recently. It looks quite good even if it is just a big billboard now. We have a similar water tower near Sydney airport that looks quite ugly as grey concrete. I featured it in a post on my blog called Tempe, Cooks River.
ReplyDeleteSydney - City and Suburbs
If this is the paint job representing Tiger Airways, I wonder how it was painted when it represented Virgin Blue.
ReplyDeleteYou have a great way of taking something rather ordinary (like this tower) and making it look very special.
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful photograph!
My cousin and I flew to Tassie with Tiger back in October. I was so sacred I was going to end up on that airline show!! They were OK for a budget airline. I wonder if the tower is really full of water??
ReplyDeleteYes, I saw the stripes and tiger paw alright!
ReplyDeleteA Tiger Tower. That's different.
ReplyDeleteThat is so strange - and unavoidable! I think it qualifies as "street art" by size alone!

Cezar and Léia - There's also a matching cafe.
ReplyDeleteRob and Mandy - Melbourne's secret nickname is - a secret.☺
J Bar - Amazing wha a coat of paint can do.
Brattcat - Probably blue and red.
Jacob - Thank you Jacob, that's kind of you to say so. I think perhaps the contrast in colour helps.
Davine - Tiger are alright to fly with, I love walking along that outdoor path getting on their planes the old fashioned way.
Autumn Belle - They certainly stand out.
Diane - Tiger Tower, I like that. Better than big pole.
Three Rivers - It's also very wide.
Cheers.
