Take a walk along Docklands, and in the grounds near Southern Cross Station is this leaning conglomerare of frosted glass and metal with etchings on each 'tier'. What it is nobody knows and try as I might I've not been able to find out from the Melbourne City Council - it isn't listed in their documents.
And so - I wonder about the artist who created it as I look at its smooth, clean lines.
It's a nice-looking piece; perhaps a lamp light upside down?

Ha! I immediately thought that it might be a giant street lamp, come crashing down. But no, according to Davine, it is a modern-day sacred vessel. Full of light at night, so we can go shopping!

ReplyDeleteIt does have an Art Deco look about it - «Louis» was surprised to read that it dates only from 2005. It is certainly more attractive than most of what passes for sculpture these days.
