Aurora

"Aurora"
Created by Geoffrey Bartlett, this wonderful artwork dwarfs any who walk under its arch. Standing at the corner of Harbour Esplanade and Bourke Street, it is a giant of gleaming steel with gracefull curves and is lit internally at night creating an impression of a floating ball.

  5. This sculpture is awesome. The Kogarah School of Arts building on my blog is in the Victorian Italianate style. I found some information on the Australian Heritage Database and I've added the link in my post. Cheers.

  9. Steffe - thanks. It is an intriging piece.

Sonia - Sometimes coming on a piece of art/sculpture by accident is better than planning to visit one.

Autumn Belle - You're right - it is modern, but also very likeable.

J Bar - I think it's one of the best I've seen - certainly unusual. Thanks for the info re architecture.:-)

AB - At first sight, it reminded me of the Daily Planet which featured in the"Superman" series.

  10. JM - thanks. I'm glad you like it.

Floral Friday - thanks, I shall have to make sure I can name them.
No worries about the shrimp. WE're having a barbie on Derby Day - snags and dead horse on the Yarra. I shall think of you:-)

    Snags - bangers - sausages.
    Dead horse - sauce.
    Cheers.
